Mad about Science

Dr. Edward Monroe was a very skilled scientist.  He had done all his graduate work at John Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland, and had
dedicated so much time to his work, that at times he seemed like a mad man obsessed with his different theories.  However, soon he
would come to realize that being so into his work would be beneficial to the world around him.

It was 3:00 a.m. in the morning when his cell phone began to ring. Dr. Monroe had not been able to sleep due to the massive rain in the
past few weeks and flooding.   Luckily for him, his only companion was Isaac his loyal dog, since his wife Abby and their  two boys
were out of town in New Jersey visiting relatives.   Isaac was barking very loudly, so Dr. Monroe opted to let him go outside.    Since, he
had missed the call, he went back to listen to the message on his phone.   “ “Dr. Edward Monroe, this is the CDC- or the Center for
Disease Control, Please call us back immediately!”  “ Oh this sounds grave”, he said as he began to dial the phone.  “ Hello, this is Dr.
Edward Monroe, he added.  “ I received a call from your office,” he continued.  “ Yes Dr. Monroe, could you please come to our
headquarters immediately?”,  added the receptionist.   “Ahh, sure!” he added.  “ Very well,  a black sedan  will be picking you up
shortly!”, and just like that, she hung up the phone.

After a few minutes  a black sedan came to pick him up.   “Hello Dr. Monroe, said a very slender woman.  “ I am Stacy Malloy” and I am the head Doctor  at the CDC”.   She continued, “ You must be wondering why we called you?”.   “ Yes”, he answered in a still nervous tone.  “ Well  you see Doctor Monroe,” “ There seems to be some contaminent, causing an outbreak as of late.”  As she spoke her voice suddenly  began to shake.  “ Dr. Malloy!”, he called. “ Are you okay?”  But it was too late Dr. Malloy was not responding.  “Quick!” he called out to the driver.  “ We must take her to the CDC Lab at once to find out what is wrong with her.   Sadly, for Dr. Monroe, the driver had also  passed out in the front seat.

Excerpt : John Marshall Law School

The day finally arrived.  I  was going to be attending John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.    This was one of the proudest moments of my father’s life.   He was absolutely thrilled, that his  only child, a daughter had been accepted.    This made my father very happy and he just thought  it was so poetic, that I would soon be a member of such an elite group as he was.  After all, my father Jackson Martin had been an alumni of John Marshall Law School and  maintained a perfect 4.0 gpa and had been one of the top in his class.   He always wanted  to keep his legacy going and now all eyes were on me.    I was excited in being able to finally start at John Marshall so that I could finally have my  freedom or so I thought. You see my father did not like the fact that I had chosen to live with my boyfriend Dante  Caryle.  He was furious and always had his reservations about our relationship.   To say that my father and I were at a crossroads

Shades of a Battered Mind by: Sylvia Stein

Hello everyone, I wanted to share a tease of my upcoming book which I am working very hard on:  This is my WIP: I hope you enjoy! Shades of a Battered Mind  by Sylvia Stein  Chapter 1   “ The Normal Life “ As I lie here holding on to my sanity.   I have to say never in a million years would I have thought all would turn out the way it did.   You see for most of my life I had been searching and hoping that one day I would find the one  and be able to finally lead a “ normal life.”  However nothing could be farther from the truth.  My name is Sadie Martin Carlyle and  on May 27, 2010 I was charged with the murder of my husband Dante Carlyle.   The thing that makes this so horrific is that  I do not even remember  committing the crime.    All I know is that when I awoke the next morning,  My husband Dante was dead and I was found  next to his body and the murder weapon.   As of now all I can do is await my trial which will not be for a few months.   Sadly

Before We say I do by Author Emerald Barnes Review

I really loved this short story of Before We Say I do by Emerald Barnes. Wow. This book which brings back the beloved characters of Emerald Barnes best selling novel, " Entertaining Angels, was so beautifully written and captured. Author Barnes is able to capture the big day approaching for Madison and Chase. It is the big day of their wedding and just when you thought you has seen the last of Zach. He is there to support his friends but mainly Chase and the relationship that has been broken between him and his father. Chase's father has just arrived and Zach is trying to help them both make a fresh start. Meanwhile Madison wants everything to work out for her future husband and love. This was a beautiful YA story full of love, emotion and faith. Emerald Barnes has done it again! It was amazing.  I must add I read the first version of this book and I am so in love with this new one.   I think it only enhanced on the story so much more.    My Rating was 5 stars!
