Writing blog By Sylvia Stein

I was recently asked by Author and friend Emerald Barnes to answer the following

questions.

What are you working on?

I am working on my Nano novel Clarity now that Closure is out.

How does your work differ from others of its genre?
Well my work differs from others because I try to focus on characters that needed to find some type of resolve and go through some type of transformation as they go through their journey.

For example my novella Closure talks about abuse and it tells the story of a young girl who loses her mother to cancer and then her father becomes an alcoholic and makes her life unbearable and it is about a journey for both of them.
Then Clarity was inspired when in last year in July 2013 I woke up to the news that a beloved character from one of my favorite show Glee had passed on.

I then began this story in November for Nano and created Mia Gerard who has lost her fiancée Leo Dancy and begins to try and rebuild her life by leaving her hometown of Michigan and moving to New York.  It is here where she encounters Henry Watson a British Artist who falls for her immediately and she fights those feelings because she is not ready to move on.

Why do you write what you?
 do?

I love Writing and this has and will always be my passion.  I love creating stories and characters that readers will love.

How does your writing process work?

My writing process begins in the late evenings and in the daytime in the weekends.   I usually write in my composition book and then I write an outline and then begin typing my draft.  I always play music usually movie scores and classical music.

Thank you for tagging me Emerald Barnes I loved being a part of it.

Excerpt of Battered Mind Chapter 1

Sadie Carlyle awoke in a state of despair when she finally opened her eyes, and noticed that  she was lying in what appeared to be a large hospital bed.   Then,  she immediately began  screaming very loudly.  She was so out of control that a strong sedative was required to calm her  down.   Her long red hair looked so dry, as the sedative took immediate effect.  It was not very  long before her greenish eyes began to close again, her skin looked so pale as the nurse applied  a soft pillow under her neck.   This had been an intense few days for Sadie.   Her emotions    were running so high that you could see the puffiness in her swollen eyes from all the non-stop  crying.   It was so hard to believe that Sadie was once a very attractive green eyed  red head that captivated a room with her profound beauty.  After a few minutes the nurse noticed  that Sadie w...

Excerpt : John Marshall Law School

The day finally arrived.  I  was going to be attending John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.    This was one of the proudest moments of my father’s life.   He was absolutely thrilled, that his  only child, a daughter had been accepted.    This made my father very happy and he just thought  it was so poetic, that I would soon be a member of such an elite group as he was.  After all, my father Jackson Martin had been an alumni of John Marshall Law School and  maintained a perfect 4.0 gpa and had been one of the top in his class.   He always wanted  to keep his legacy going and now all eyes were on me.    I was excited in being able to finally start at John Marshall so that I could finally have my  freedom or so I thought. You see my father did not like the fact that I had chosen to live with my boyfriend Dante  Caryle.  He was furious and always had his re...
